Kate Bradley
My name is Kate Bradley and I live in Wadawurrung Country on the Surf Coast in Victoria (Australia). I am a music producer and songwriter. Girl From Sea is my latest musical identity.
Music has always been a really important aspect of who I am. I don’t know why, but, when I was a little kid we had a piano and I just sat down one day at home and started playing it. I could just make sense of the piano and loved to create my own songs. Music has always felt very natural to me. I’m no Mozart or current-day genius like Taylor Swift, but I find the creative process of composing a song very grounding and uplifting too.

Over the years I’ve had several music projects (Kate Bradley, Goodbye Horses, Dark Fair) and got to play with lots of bands and artists I love, as well as perform at festivals. I’ve supported artists such as, Sleater Kinney, Adalita Srsen, Veruca Salt, and even Katy Perry. Festivals and events I’ve performed at have included the Big Day Out (Australia), SXSW in Austin (USA), CMJ Festival in New York (USA), and Laneway (Australia).
I’ve had songs synced to TV shows, used to promote women’s AFL and one of my previous bands was even featured on a TV commercial. I’ve won awards for my music, and my last album with Dark Fair was long-listed for the Australian Music Prize (AMP).

Girl From Sea

Girl From Sea is a bit different from my other projects because the sound or feel is more aligned with electronic dance music (EDM) / electronic rock / synth pop.
Every musical project I've worked on has had its own sound and I feel that sound has been influenced by the people I've collaborated with and the location or place where I've been based at the time. As I've gotten on in my life I really believe that the place we are in has such a direct impact on our artistic style.
I live in Wadawurrung Country (Surf Coast Victoria). I love it down here. It’s a real community of wonderful people. Lots of beautiful coast without lots of development. The sea is also a big part of who I am. I have surfed for most of my life. Several songs I've written for my new album, Crazy / Brutal were influenced by the experiences I've had since moving from Melbourne to the Surf Coast.
